Amid a massive attendance of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, stalwarts and workers, Sardar Mehtab Khan Abbasi, took oath as Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa here on Tuesday. The oath taking ceremony glittering with colours of PML-N, held at main lawn of Governor House Peshawar, wherein the Chief Justice Peshawar High Court, Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel administered oath from the newly appointed Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The ceremony was attended by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Minister for Interior Nisar Ali Khan, JUI-S chief Maulana Samiul Haq, KP senior Ministers, Sirajul Haq, and Shahram Tarakai, high officers from military and law enforcement agencies, provincial ministers, MPAs and MNAs and heads and officials from various departments from KP and Fata.
Workers of PML-N flooded into the Governor House, after passing through walks through gates and other necessary security check. A full jam-pack and covered seats, arranged in the main ground of the Governor House. Before administrating of swear, the PML-N workers and leaders, welcomed Sardar Mehtab as standing ovation, then national anthem played.
The Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Amjad Ali Khan formally readout Commission appointment notification of Governor KP, then asked the Chief Justice Peshawar High Court, to administer oath from Mehtab Abbasi, who took over as 27th Governor of the province, and fifth Governor from PML-N.
Soon after the taking of oath by the newly appointed Governor KP, a slight commotion was witnessed as the PML-N workers occupied the main stage and rostrum, and greeting to Sardar Mehtab for taking over as Governor. Amid slogans of Zindabad of PML-N and Sardar Mehtab Abbasi, the security guards encircled the newly appointed and avoided to any mishap on the occasion. Everyone tried to shake hand and embrace with Governor Mehtab Abbasi.
Later on talking to media persons the newly inducted Governor KP Sardar Mehtab Khan Abbasi spell out his priorities for FATA areas. "The social fabric of FATA which shattered due to long spell of law and order in the region need to be corrected", Abbasi added saying due to war in Afghanistan tribal areas in Pakistan and the country (Pakistan) itself suffered and negatively affected which need complete peace and harmony now.
"Fata is the area which we can bank on and it will never be left to become weak but would be streamlined", he resolved saying that it (FATA) is the only way linking Central Asian countries via Afghanistan with Pakistan through the region for trade purposes which is a historical route for this purpose and would be revitalised again for it.
"We will bring in such administration in FATA that no body would object to", he said adding that trust building process in FATA is a big challenge to be meted by him. Pakistan future rest with peace and prosperity of that (Fata) region, Abbasi said adding, "Improving socio-economic indicators and trade activities in FATA would be prioritised". Regarding a question about militancy in FATA he said that he himself has been in tension during the last 10-12 years regarding the situation in tribal areas and to a question as to whether those involved in militancy in tribal areas should be given general amnesty, Abbasi said that amnesty, if given, should be within law and constitution of the country.
He said that the talks process (between government and militants) is complicated process and it has so many dynamics that could not be talked about publicly or in front of media adding that however peace is the voice of every tribal man which he seek. He said that reconstruction and rehabilitation process in tribal areas as well as IDPs rehabilitation will be his priority.
