Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah has directed the Deputy Commissioners of all districts in Sindh to perform as Project Director (PD) and get the pace of development works expedited and ensure of these works within targeted period. He directed the development planners to conceive the schemes for the clean hygienic lavatories, safe drinking water facilities, especially at public places of each Taluka and District Headquarters (HQ) cities/towns to facilitate the people/females/ children while they are visiting to these cities/towns for their routine business of life.
The Chief Minister Sindh also directed the officers of Irrigation Department to start work for de-silting of its canals/distributaries, especially at districts Badin and Thatta and complete the same before the coming monsoon season to avoid any flood related losses to the people and the government infrastructure as well. This, he directed, while presiding over the meeting to review the ongoing pace of development works at CM House on Tuesday
The MNA Ms Faryal Talpur, Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development Wasim Ahmed, Secretary to CM Rai Sikandar, Secretary Works and Services Kazi Shahid Perviaz, ACS Education,Fazaullah Pechuho and other Secretaries of Provincial Department attended the meeting. The meeting discussed and reviewed the ongoing development schemes at District Badin and Tando Muhammad Khan in detail and got briefing from the officers concerned.
The ACS Development Wasim Ahmed while briefing the meeting informed that there are 73 Provincial ADP 2013-14 schemes under execution with annual allocation of Rs 2099.225 million in District Badin and 22 development scheme with Annual allocation of Rs 251.855 in District Tando Muhammad Khan. Similarly, 591.000 million so far have been allocated for the Badin District ADP 2013-14 and Rs 260 million has been allocated for the schemes of Tando Muhammad Khan District ADP 2013-14.
He said the work on the development schemes in these districts was in progress at satisfactory level. The Chief Minister Sindh while addressing the meeting said that though a lot has been made by executing department but still there is room of improvement and expediting the pace of development to get these schemes completed within stipulated period and avoid price escalation.
He directed to the Deputy Commissioners of all districts in Sindh to play their role and perform as project director and get the development works completed within targeted period so that the purpose of this investment to facilitate the common man be achieved. The Chief Minister Sindh directed to the planners of development works to concentrate specially on the schemes which can improve the face value of the district Headquarter (HQ) cites. He said the schemes of improvement the major arteries and road linking to other major cities would be encouraging in this regard. Besides, introduction of the schemes of clean lavatories, safe drinking water and sun shades facilities at public places of each Taluka and District, HQ city/towns to facilitate to poor people, especially women and children.
While lauding the Provincial Irrigation Department for showing its good performance in execution of development works, the Chief Minister directed Secretary Irrigation to prepare contingency plan for de-silting of canal/distributaries and ensure that the same be completed before the coming monsoon season.-PR
