The Karachi Port handled 185,744 tonnes of cargo comprising 128,271 tonnes of import cargo and 57,473 tonnes of export cargo during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 128,271 tonnes comprised of 51,044 tonnes of containerised cargo; 9,816 tonnes of general cargo; 17,361 tonnes of bulk cargo: 15,402 tonnes of coal; 1,959 tonnes of soyabean meal and 50,050 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 57,473 tonnes comprised of 45,223 tonnes of containerised cargo; 15 tonnes of general cargo; 8,235 tonnes of iron steel and 4,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. There were five ships namely Hyundai Jakarta, Daebo Masan, Shi Zi Shan, Aquila and Argent Aster carrying containers, general cargo and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were seven vessels viz. Wan Hai-513, PAC Aries, Ital Moderna, Ashahda, JS Congo, Lucky Trader and Grand Champion carrying containers, coal, general cargo and vehicles respectively currently at the berths. There were five ships namely Wan Hai-513, Japan, Ital Moderna, MSC Levina and Faith carrying containers and steel coils respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday, while two ships namely Kota Kaya and SMA Jaguar with containers and coal respectively are expected to sail on Friday.
There were three vessels viz. Kota Kaya, APL Sokhna and MT Lahore carrying containers and oil tanker respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while four vessels viz. Carolina, Kota Kaya, Lissy Schulte and Orfeas carrying containers and mogas respectively are due to arrive on Friday.
The total import cargo of 40,555 tonnes includes 21,339 tonnes of diesel oil; 16,956 tonnes of edible oil and 2,260 tonnes of chemicals. There were two ships namely CV CMA CGM Maupassant and MV Yas with containers and chemicals sailed out to sea on Thursday morning. A total number of four vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Maupassant, Al-Salam-II, MT Bunga Allium and MV Yas were occupied berths to load/offload containers, diesel oil, edible oil and chemicals respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as five ships namely Express Makalu, OOCL Kobe, Hansa Africa, Al-Soor-II and MT Quetta with containers, diesel oil and furnace oil are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There were three vessels carrying containers, diesel oil and edible oil took berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, FOTCO Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Wednesday. There are two ships namely CV OOCL Kobe and CV Express Makalu with containers due to arrive on Thursday.
