Sharif claims Zardari asked him to legitimize Musharraf’s second martial law
Deposed Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif revealed on Wednesday that former president Asif Ali Zardari suggested to him to legitimize General (retd) Pervez Musharraf’s second martial law.
According to local media reports, Sharif said that when he was approached by Zardari, he had refused to accept his suggestion of legitimizing Musharraf’s second martial law. Sharif was answering a question in court by National Accountability Bureau about why corruption charges had been filed against him.
Sharif said that he initiated an inquiry against Musharraf and started formulating a treason case. The ousted PM added that he had initiated a case against Musharraf despite being warned not to do so. He claimed it was due to this reason that he had been accused of corruption.
The three time premier completed recording his statement today in the Avenfield properties reference. He had been recording his statement for the past two days, answering the questionnaire that consisted of more than 100 questions.
