Punjab Minister for Environment Colonel Shuja Khanzada (Retd) while presiding over a meeting regarding anti-dengue activities here on Thursday has directed all the Commissioners of the province and Town Municipal Officers (TMOs) of Lahore to ensure foolproof arrangements regarding anti-dengue activities. He also directed the TMOs to pay visit to tyre shops, godowns, nurseries, junkyards and under construction sites in their respective areas.
On this occasion, Punjab Secretary Environment, Anwar Rashid, Director General Environment, Sheikh Farooq Hameed and other concerned officers were also present. The Minister said the survey, inspections, registration and licensing of tyre shops, godowns, junkyards and nurseries is the responsibility of concerned TMAs under various provisions of Tyre Vendor Regulations, Punjab Local Government Ordinance 2001 (Amended) and other municipals laws/bylaws.
He said TMOs should do their level best to fulfil their responsibility. He said he will conduct surprise visits very soon to check the anti-dengue activities and if any officer is found in violation of anti-dengue activities, stern action would be taken against him. He further said all TMOs should ensure SOP regarding anti-dengue activities and adopt precautionary measures at any cost and pay more visits to their concerned Union Councils and take stern action against those not observing SOP issued by the government regarding anti-dengue measures.
