A team of the world renowned Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) Experiment of European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN) has visited the Government College University (GCU), Lahore to discuss matters related to collaboration with Pakistani scientists.
The delegation, comprised CMS Tracker Project Manager Dr Frank Hartmann, Tracker Upgrade Co-ordinator Duccio Abbaneo, Technical Co-ordinator Dr Austin Howard Ball, Rsource Manager Andrzej Charkiewicz, Spokesperson Dr Tiziano Camporesi and Dr Paraskevas Sphicas, also met with Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman and explored areas of future collaboration with scientists of GCU.
GCU Professor Rafi, Dr Muhammad Zakria Butt, CASP Director Professor Dr Raiz Ahmad and senior representatives of Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) were also present. The European nuclear scientists inspected research facilities at the GCU Centre for Advanced Studies in Physics (CASP), and showed special interest in Pelletron Accelerator and Nuclear Data Group. GCU Vice Chancellor Professor Rahman briefed the delegate about history, traditions and research potential and output of the university.
