The All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA) on Thursday rejected latest gas load management schedule, terming it faulty and inconsistent with ground realities, which is disturbing masses and bankrupting CNG operators. The newly-introduced schedule has inflicted great miseries upon masses as well as CNG operators, said Ghiyas Abdullah Paracha, Chairman Supreme Council APCNGA, while speaking to a hurriedly called meeting of the office-bearers of the association.
Central Chairman APCNGA Perviaz Khattak, SVC Brigadier (Retd) Iftikhar, Chairman Punjab Mian Shahid, Bashir Suleman, Fayaz Khan and others were also present on the occasion. Ghiyas Paracha said that the new schedule, deliberate low gas pressure and enhanced electricity load shedding has resulted in permanent closure of over 300 CNG outlets in Punjab while whole of the industry is on the verge of collapse.
Two-day CNG schedule is joke with the masses, which has made life difficult for the CNG operators, therefore, former schedule must be restored or round-the-clock supply for four days be allowed in Punjab, he demanded. The leaders of the CNG sector said that tens of millions of productive hours of masses have been wasted pushing APCNGA to the wall which is already under pressure from masses, its members and transporters for street protests.
Paracha said that CNG industry has no alternative for the natural gas, but it has remained target of cuts and conspiracies, while policy of pleasing influential sectors on the cost of masses has not changed. The new schedule has been boosting oil import bill, eroding forex reserves, hurting standard of living of general public dependent of the clean fuel and paving way for elimination of CNG sector therefore it is not acceptable, he said. He asked the Petroleum Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to take note of the situation and take corrective steps. On the occasion, all the office-bearers and members of the APCNGA reposed confidence in the leadership of Paracha and expressed determination to go to any extreme to get their rights.-PR
