The latest special issue of Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL)'s quarterly 'Adbiyat' is on the genre 'Naat' and it will serve as a reference document for students and scholars. This was stated by Shiraz Latif Chairman PAL on the occasion of the release of the special issue of quarterly 'Adbiyat'.
He further said that Pakistani literature is very rich so for as almost all major poets and scholars have contributed Naats, as a gesture of respect and faith to the great personality and Messenger of God "Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH)". The purpose of producing this issue is not only to contribute in Pakistani literature, but also to get the lead to collect in one volume the representative "Naats" appeared in different languages of Pakistan included Arabic and Persian as well. He said that one section of the magazine is dedicated to a selection of Naats by companions of the Prophet (PBUH) and others venerable personalities. Other section contains selections of representative poetry of major Pakistani languages.
He said that the issue consists of 552 pages including selection of Naats from Arabic, Persian and Urdu. It includes prose regarding Naat in Urdu and other languages. It includes translations from Brahvi, Balochi, Pashtu, Punjabi, Saraiki, Sindhi, Gojri and Hinko. Chairman PAL, Shiraz Latif is the Managing Editor of the magazine while Editor is Muhammad Asim Butt and Co-Editor is Akhtar Raza Saleemi.-PR
