Quaid-i-Azam Apparel Park project: autonomous company to be set up for implementation
Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif presided over a high level meeting here on Sunday which decided to set up an autonomous company for the speedy implementation of Quaid-i-Azam Apparel Park project. Secretary Industries gave a detailed briefing to the meeting regarding the pace of progress on the project.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that Quaid-i-Azam Apparel Park project is of vital importance for the promotion of textile sector. He directed that work on the project be carried out speedily and warned that no laxity will be tolerated. He said that establishment of Quaid-i-Azam Apparel Park over 1500 acres of land near Motorway will accelerate economic activities in the province. He said that large number of job opportunities will be created while annual revenue of billions of rupees will be generated with the establishment of the apparel park.
He said that the Chinese group besides extending technical co-operation will also transfer technology which will strengthen textile sector. Shahbaz Sharif said that Quaid-i-Azam Apparel Park will be greatly helpful in benefiting from GSP Plus status. He said that a prominent Chinese company Shendong Ruyi Group is making investment in Quaid-i-Azam Apparel Park and the group will also extend technical assistance in the execution of the project.
