Taiwan stocks flat

Taiwan stocks were flat in early morning trade on Monday, largely in line with other regional bourses as investors await word from global central banks on future economic policy. As of 0150 GMT, the main TAIEX index rose 2.03 points to 8,886.42, after closing flat in the previous session. Investors are taking a wait-and-see attitude before expected interest-rate cuts in Europe and further statements from the US Federal Reserve on its exit from quantitative easing.
Taiwan's electronic subindex was trading flat, though the semiconductor index was down 0.27 percent. Banks and insurance companies and the construction subindex were also flat, while autos rose 0.56 percent. The Taiwan dollar was up T$0.098 to stand at T$30.110 to the US dollar.
