Equities registered more gains on the Lahore Stock Exchange (LSE) amid descending transaction volume on Tuesday. The LSE-25 index gained 35.02 points to close at 5357.97 against 5322.95 of Monday, while transaction volume was declined to 0.828 million shares compared with day earlier volume of 0.851 million shares.
According to brokers, the market players are engaged in buying in selective scrips only. Some of the investors offloaded also to secure their positions, which led to decline in volume. Highnoon Laboratories, PSO, Otsuka Pakistan Limited, Soneri Bank Limited, Chashma Sugar Mills, Attock Refinery Limited, Pak Elektron Limited, Avanceon Limited, Adamjee Insurance Company Limited and Engro Fertilizer Limited registered gains while OGDCL, Pakistan Petroleum Limited, MCB Bank, Gul Ahmed Textile Mills Limited, Hascol Petroleum Limited, NBP, FFC, Maple Leaf Cement Limited, Lafarge Pakistan Cement Limited and the Bank of Punjab suffered losses and closed in minus column.
The losers were just ahead with the gainers, as out of a total of 89 companies, 15 showed strength and were closed in green zone, 17 suffered losses, while 57 companies stayed unchanged at their previous levels. Among the gainers, Highnoon Laboratories gained Rs 7.45, PSO was improved by Rs 4.36, Otsuka Pakistan Limited was appreciated by Rs 1.80, while Soneri Bank Limited, Chashma Sugar Mills, Attock Refinery Limited, Pak Elektron Limited, Avanceon Limited, Adamjee Insurance Company Limited and Engro Fertilizer Limited were up by Re 1.00, paisa-97, paisa-75, paisa-70, paisa-58, paisa-45 and paisa-25, respectively.
On the other hand, OGDCL shed Rs 4.21, Pakistan Petroleum Limited was declined by Rs 1.90, MCB Bank lost paisa-97, while Gul Ahmed Textile Mills Limited, Hascol Petroleum Limited, NBP, FFC, Maple Leaf Cement Limited, Lafarge Pakistan Cement Limited and the Bank of Punjab were down by paisa-74, paisa-70, paisa-62, paisa-29, paisa-25, paisa-19 and paisa-19, respectively. The volume leader of the day included the Bank of Punjab with 241,500 shares, K-Electric Limited with 148,000 shares and Hascol Petroleum Limited with 128,500 shares.
