Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan has said it is the high time to correct the wrong perceptions; build positive image of ourselves and make best use of the available resources both for betterment of the people and the country. The situation in respect of FATA, he added, is of greater importance in this respect and there is a need that the tribal people must continue their unflinching support to the security forces and the political administration to make all this possible.
Addressing tribal elders of Mohmand Agency at its headquarter, Ghalani on Tuesday, the Governor said, the entire FATA; the Mohmand Agency in particular bears rich potentials for economic development and bringing socio-economic well being of the people possible and it also is the right time to take correct decisions.
He assured the tribal elders that while taking every new step whether it is meant for socio-economic uplift or strengthening of their system, they will be taken along. While referring to the constitutions of FATA Reforms Commission, the Governor said, all segments of society right from students to experts and tribal elders will be taken on board before finalising any proposal.
Besides the Additional Chief Secretary, FATA, Arbab Muhammad Arif and Principal Secretary to Governor, Dr Muhammad Fakhar e Alam, the Commissioner, Peshawar, Munir Azam Khan and the Political Agent, Khushal Khan were also present while prominent tribal elders, Malik Sultan Ajmal Khel, Malik Fiyaz, Malik Ahmad Faiz, Malik Attaullah Turakzai, Malik Said Khan Anbar, Malik Said Khan Baro Khel, Malik Tehmas Khan Essa Khel and Malik Muhammad Ali welcomed the Governor and highlighted salient feature of the agency for future development point of view.
Indeed, the Governor said, construction of roads, water resources; the small dams in particular and power generation oriented projects will be given due priority in entire FATA. The Mohmand Agency, he added, bears the advantage of providing centuries old international trade route via Pak - Afghan border and the day is not far away when the enterprising trading community of this agency will avail the second best opportunities of foreign trade after Torkham border.
The fact, that the resources are much meagre as against our requirements, the Governor said, the situation on ground demands the need to take extra efforts to ensure that all the available means are not utilised effectively and efficiently but also judiciously.
