Punjab Finance Minister Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman said arrangements are being made for paying online property tax by seeing category of the house and other tax through computerised system in the province. He expressed these views while addressing Gujranwala and Rawalpindi Chambers of Commerce and Industry separately, disclosed an official here on Tuesday.
The Minister said the total system of excise department is being computerized due to which the complaints of the people will be redressed. He disclosed that GIS system has been completed in Multan, Lahore, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi and Gujranwala and computerised system in other districts of the province will soon be completed.
"People will benefit from the facility of paying all dues by sitting in their houses and like easy paisa all systems will also be utilised for tax payment. Well-to-do people belonging to every walk of life will have to pay tax for strengthening national economy so that public welfare projects could be completed," he added. He informed the members of the Chambers about the details of new survey of property tax and proposals for enhancing tax net. He said tax will also be levied on agriculture income and like ceiling of other income sectors the agriculture income tax limit will be increased from Rs 80,000 to Rs 400,000. He said the government is making record investment in energy sector and has given approval to 20,000 megawatt energy projects so far.
"There will be considerable decrease in load shedding during next year summer season. Nandipur Power Project machinery kept rusting for three years at Karachi Port. The present government is completing Nandipur Power Project in a record period and first phase was inaugurated through which 100 megawatt electricity is being generated," he added.
He said 10 percent concession will be given to those citizens on the payment of tax up to July 31 who have been making payment of property tax regularly for three years. In addition, a proposal is also under consideration for giving honorary card and cash prize by the government to those paying tax regularly, he added.
