Former England star Kevin Pietersen will make his domestic Twenty20 Blast debut for Surrey at home to Essex on Friday, tournament organisers announced on Wednesday. A message published on the competition's Twitter feed said: "NEWS: Kevin Pietersen named in @surreycricket squad, set for T20Blast action at the Oval on Friday." Pietersen had been scheduled to open his campaign against Middlesex last week, but he was ruled out by a finger injury.
A YouTube video showing Pietersen padding up in a changing room was also posted on Surrey's Twitter feed, along with the words: "This gentleman will be coming to work on Friday night."
