KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak Sunday said that not inclusion of any mega project in the federal government's Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) would be fully protested in the meeting of the Council of Common Interest (CCI). Addressing different public meetings and talking to local notables after detailed inspection of Ummah Children Academy at Surya Khel, he vowed not to take rest till getting guarantee for the rights of the province.
The public meetings were addressed by Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation, Mian Jamshiduddin Kakakhel, MNA Dr Imran Khattak, MPA Idrees Khattak, Country Director, Ummah Academy, Inayatullah, General Manager, Sahibzada Imran and Haji Fazal-ur-Rehman.
The chief minister said that federal government would have to pay the net hydel profit under AGN Qazi Formula to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He was of the view that the ignoring of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would result in grave repercussions.
Pervez Khattak expressed sorrow over the matter that they offered investment to federal government in different projects including hydel sector, but Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was completely ignored in federal budget, which is sheer injustice.
The chief minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa alleged that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif under a well-planned strategy is utilising the resources of the whole country on some specific areas of Punjab to benefit Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif and their some other influential relatives. On the other hand, he said the consecutive ignoring of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is a matter of grave concern and it can inflict irreparable loss on the federation. He urged the prime minister to read written on the wall before taking steps based on injustice and usurping of rights and avoid damaging national solidarity.
The chief minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa asked federal government for keeping in view the incident of the fall of Dakkha, saying the mistakes of the past had divided the country into two parts and if we failed in learning lesson from the history, then we will have to face more tragedies. Better is that the federal government while fulfilling the requirements of justice should guarantee granting rights to all provinces and instead of step-mother treatment it should extend full co-operation to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The chief minister also announced a development package of over Rs 1.5 billion for provincial assembly constituencies PK-13 and 15 and removal of the backwardness of the far-flung areas of Khattak Nama. He also launched work on the Rs 560 million Barani Dam Project, which will irrigate thousands of acres agricultural land. The dam, he said will not only increase the under water reservoir, but will also play crucial role in ushering economic development in the area.
The chief minister also announced the construction of several roads and up-gradation of a high, middle and primary school. He said that the PTI led coalition government is fulfilling all electoral commitments, saying their all concentration is on bringing improvement in the life standard of the poor. He said that sans education establishment of peace is impossible, therefore they are paying full attention on education. He said that due to illiteracy militancy and lawlessness is on rise. He said that until the restoration of peace neither any investor will be ready for making investment in the province nor employment opportunities would grow.
Corruption, he said has registered ample cut, saying from next month an independent Ehtesab Commission will start operation in the province, which will draw full-stop before corruption and in future no one will dare to receive advance 25 per cent commission on the purchase/selling of recruitments and development works. He said that for generation of employment opportunities in the province, they will guarantee the provision of gas to all seven industrial estates of the province, which will provide employment to thousands of youth. He said that the province has the potential to become self-sufficient with its own resources.
