Inspector General of Police Punjab Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera has said that police will have to take strict measures to avert Model Town Lahore like incidents in the future. He said this during first meeting with police officers at CPO Lahore on Friday after assuming charge as provincial police chief.
The IGP said police had to adopt pro-active approach and it had to work according to SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) of operation command without any pressure so that no anti-state element could damage official and public property. During the meeting, he expressed sorrow on Model Town incident and reviewed detail of its reasons. He said performance of all officials and officers from Mohrar to high ranking would be monitored and misuse of power at any level would not be tolerated.
The IGP stressed the officers to perform their professional duties with commitment and honesty to maintain law and order and elimination of crimes.
Additional IGP Sarmad Saeed Khan, Additional IG CTD Amin Venus, Additional IG Welfare and Finance, Dr Arif Mushtaq, Additional IG R&D Rai Altaf and other officers were also present.
