Chief Minister's Special Adviser on livestock Chaudhry Muhammad Arshad Jutt has said that the government is allocating Rs 3,500 million for development programme in livestock sector for the financial year 2014-15 besides allocating Rs 210 million for ongoing five developmental projects.
Jutt made these observations while chairing a special meeting of the livestock department here on Tuesday, which was attended by Dr Muhammad Nawaz Saeed Director General (Extension), Dr Rasheed Ahmad Director General (Research), Dr Khalid Khan Director Livestock Farms and others.
The meeting reviewed the ongoing five development projects of the livestock sector and examining the PC-1 of 16 new projects. These projects include increasing production of cows, buffaloes, sheeps and goats and improving their genetic capacities. Capacity building of veterinary and para-veterinary staff and installing bio-gas plants at a cost of Rs 60 million at livestock farms of the province of Punjab. Arshad Jutt directed Dr Rasheed Ahmad to prepare foot and mouth and other diseases vaccine in oil base to provide longer resistance power to animals and vaccinate maximum number of animals in the province.
