In order to attract commuters, Pakistan Railways (PR) has announced a special Ramazan Package in Business Class, AC Parlor, Economy and AC Standard class by reducing fares from June 25 to August 31. "The trains which accommodate air-conditioned and business class are going to offer cut in their fares. On the purchase of five tickets in family cabin, the 6th ticket will be free," said PR's Senior Commercial Manager, Malik Umair Khan, while talking to Business Recorder.
He said that PR was going to facilitate its commuters by reducing the fares of economy class, AC standard, and AC slipper by 10 percent under the special Ramazan package, adding that the discount is offered only in certain trains. The fares of Bolan Express, Sakhar Express, Khyber Mail, Taiz Gaam, Jafar Express, Karachi Express, Awam Express, Badin Express, and Saman Sarkar Express will be reduced by 10 percent during the period, he added.
Khan said that the offer has been made in a bid to attract passengers, saying "it has been our experience that a number of commuters whether avoid travelling during the month of Ramazan or adopt other alternate means of traveling, resultantly PR has to suffer as many seats of coaches go vacant." However, he said that they hope the offer would attract the masses commuters. He said, Pakistan Railway' besides providing economical and comfortable service for its passengers, would be able to earn reasonable revenue through the special offer that would help the organisation to minimise its financial deficit.
