Akhtar Abbasi, who contested polls from NA-198 constituency during last year's general election as independent candidate, has been shot dead in Sukkur. Police said on Sunday that the incident occurred in Regent Colony on Saturday evening where unknown assailants gunned him down. According to hospital sources, Abbasi received a bullet in his head that proved fatal.
The police said that the family of the deceased had not contacted them for initiating legal action, however, they had registered a case and started investigation.
