Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has said that the PTI-led coalition government is fulfilling its commitments made with the people during the election campaign. He expressed these views while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the special package for provision of subsidised flour and ghee to poor at CM Secretariat, here on Tuesday. PTI chief Imran Khan attended the function as chief guest while provincial ministers, MNA, MPAs, trader community and others also attended.
He said that the PTI government in the budget for financial year 2014-15 had promised the special package for provision of subsidised flour and ghee to the poor worth Rs 7 billion, which was being implemented. Under the programme, he said, 5.6 million people identified as poor would be given a subsidy of Rs 10 per kg on purchase of 40 kilogram flour and Rs 40 per kg on purchase of five kg ghee per month.
The families, he said, would be issued two vouchers of worth Rs 600 per month through which they could purchase these commodities from their nearby utility store. Besides, the provincial government has also arranged insurance policy for the head of each poor family. Under which, he said, an amount of Rs 0.1million would be paid in case of accidental death and Rs 50,000 in case of natural death to the heirs of the deceased.
The chief minister vowed that the PTI-led government would soon put KP on the road to progress and economic stability with active support of the allied parties, legislators and people at large. He mentioned a number of steps his government was taking for overall development of the province and welfare of various communities including students, poor, destitute, business and industrialist community, patients, and youth.
