Pakistan, India inch along dialogue path

The most important development that has taken place ahead of talks of foreign secretaries of India and Pakistan scheduled to be held on August 25 in Islamabad is Pakistan government's announcement that it would restart work on improving trade ties when the two nations' foreign secretaries meet next month.
According to a spokesman for the Foreign Office, in line with the vision of the two prime ministers to improve and establish good neighbourly relations, the foreign secretaries agreed that the dialogue process between the two countries should be result-oriented.
It is, however, not known whether or not the dialogue process would go beyond granting India Most-Favoured Nation (MFN) status - a pledge that Islamabad had already made.
The core issues, particularly the Kashmir dispute, need to be brought under a renewed focus at two foreign secretaries talks.
