Vice-chairman Sub-Council of Chinese Chemical Industry Ma Chunyan emphasised the need for adopting latest techniques available in the international market to give boost to productivity of the agriculture sector apart from addressing their other issues.
"Once the farming community adopts the techniques available in the international market, the productivity of agriculture sector would not only jump up but also enable them to resolve the issues with ease," she said, while talking to LCCI President Engineer Sohail Lashari here on Saturday. LCCI Senior Vice President Mian Tariq Misbah and Co-ordinator of the exhibition Jawed Salim Qureshi were also present on the occasion.
Led by Ma Chunyan, the two-member Chinese delegation apprised LCCI President Engineer Sohail Lashari about CAC Pakistan Summit and Pak-China Agro Chemical Expo scheduled for August 5 and 6 at Lahore Expo Centre. The two-member delegation briefed the LCCI office-bearers about the exhibition and objectives for holding the summit. They said objective of this mega event is to revolutionise Pakistan's agriculture sector by providing it with latest and cheaper solutions to the problems.
Ma Chunyan told the LCCI Chief that it is not only the pesticide people who are taking part in the exhibition but also the businessmen belonging to agriculture machinery; and fertilisers are also participating in the moot that is first of its kind in Pakistan. She said quite a few Chinese companies are also bringing with them solutions to make barren lands productive.
Speaking on the occasion, LCCI President Engineer Sohail Lashari said the Lahore Chamber has taken initiative to hold this rare exhibition and summit to strengthen the agriculture sector where the productivity has almost been stagnant for the last many years. He added that they know about quite a few cases where the productivity deteriorated instead of registering any increase.
The LCCI President said the CAC Conference and Exhibition would be first in South Asia as the companies chose Pakistan because huge lands are available here and chances to increase productivity are manifold. Sohail Lashari further said the CAC broadened its network by exhibiting in Europe, Brazil and other locations in the world. It is going to be the first time that CAC is holding such an event and summit in South Asia. "Pakistan is an agrarian economy but we lag far behind in terms of obtaining the desired level of knowledge and ways to combat with potential threats to our food and cash crops existing in the form of pests, unnecessary herbs and scarcity of water," he said, adding: "CAC Pakistan promises to display and convince the use of modern technologies developed over the period of time through research and development in the field of agriculture." He added that the CAC Pakistan will provide a joint forum to government officials and industry professionals to highlight the benefits of using pesticides, fertilisers, processed seeds, affordable agriculture equipment and machinery.
