Hyderabad based Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), HRCP and Sindh Democratic Forum jointly observed "The International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples" at IRADO Office, here on Monday. The day is observed on August 9 each year to promote and protect the rights of the world's indigenous population.
Jeay Sindh Mahaz leader Hashim Khoso said that Sindh's resources had been grabbed by outsiders and indigenous people made underdeveloped. HRCP Co-ordinator Dr Ashothama briefly presented the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples. IRADO chief Abbas Khoso said that the day has provided us an opportunity to share perspectives and best practices on the realisation of the rights of indigenous peoples, including pursuing the objectives of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
SEARCH's Executive Director Waheed Jamali said that the day reminds us the achievements and contributions that indigenous people make to improve world issues such as environmental protection.
