This is the first instance that ABAD is holding an international exhibition of the building and development industry. A housing industry expo at such a large scale was never held in Pakistan though exhibitions of engineering and architecture were hosted in the past.
ABAD is holding the expo with an objective to create more awareness about the importance of this field. We want to tell the people that the construction sector helps run numerous allied industries and provides employment to hundreds of thousands of people. We want to highlight that there is a shortage of eight million housing units in the country, the annual demand is 0.5 million units and we are making 0.2 million, leading to a perennial deficit of 0.3 million homes per year.
We had planned ABAD Expo on Independence Day to join the nation in the celebrations with a message that it is time to give construction industry a new face, let the government solve the issues of construction sector and let us show the real potential of this sector, we hope this Independence Day marks the beginning of a new era for the building and construction industry.
