Opposition leader in the National Assembly and Pakistan People's Party stalwart Syed Khurshid Thursday said that Imran Khan's demand of technocrat government was condemnable and extra constitutional. Talking to media on Thursday, he said: finally the cat is out of the bag, but no democratic party will accept technocrat's government." He added that the judiciary would also not allow such an extra judicial set-up.
He said prime minister's resignation would also be an extra judicial act, adding that he was disappointed after Imran Khan rejected judicial commission. Khursheed Shah said that although the Lahore High Court (LHC) had maintained that Imran Khan and his Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf do not proceed with their protest march, the government should not create hindrances in their way as protest was the democratic right of a political party.
He said that Imran should not be stopped from leading the 'Azadi' march and the routes should not be blocked by containers. Shah said he did not spot any containers in the federal capital apart from those in the capital's 'Red Zone'. The opposition leader said the demands put forth by Imran and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri were similar in nature.
While on the subject of vote rigging in the 2013 general elections and efforts for reconciliation brought forward by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Shah said the premier had shown political acumen by calling for the formation of a Supreme Court commission. Shah said the Supreme Court could come up with a solution of the issue within the parameters of the Constitution.
