Soldiers killed 11 gunmen who took part in attacks on two airbases here on Thursday night, the military said Friday. The militants tried to storm the Khalid and Samungli air bases in Quetta, the army said in a statement. "Five terrorists were killed outside Pakistan Air Force base Samungli and three apprehended, while six terrorists were killed outside Khalid army aviation base," the military said.
"No loss or damage occurred to any asset," it said The army said five attackers who targeted Khalid facility were wearing suicide vests. About a dozen security personnel were injured in the gun battles, provincial police chief Muhammad Amlish told reporters. The little known Ghalib Mehsud faction of Taliban rebels took responsibility of the attack.
