The Centre of Excellence in Geology University of Peshawar and University of Haripur signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the establishment of a full-fledged department of geology at University of Haripur (UoH). The agreement formally signed by Vice Chancellor UoP Professor Dr Muhammad Rasul Jan and VC Haripur University Professor Dr Naseer Ali Khan in a ceremony held at the University of Peshawar.
Under the agreement, initially, the NCEG would set up state of the art laboratories for the new department and train the faculty members thereof. Besides, the Geology students of UoH would be given access to laboratories at NCEG for lab work and research. In the next phase, the two universities would start joint geological research projects within Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Being the mother institution of Khyer Pakhtunkhwa the University of Peshawar would appreciate extending co-operation to newer universities to establish new departments, said VC Professor Dr Muhammad Rasul Jan. He further said Geology is a field of the future and more research is needed in the field to unearth the resource talent of our soil.
Dr Naseer Ali Khan said that producing graduates as per demand of the market was his priority at the UoH. He added in a short of span of time the University of Haripur has made good progress in the field of Higher Education while special focus is being paid to research. Director National Centre of Excellence in Geology Professor Dr Tahir Shah and Director P&D Professor Dr Badshah Munir Bukhari was also present on the occasion.
