Widespread rain/thunderstorm with isolated heavy falls is expected in Sindh from next Monday to Wednesday, the Met Office forecast. It said that a good spell of fresh monsoon rains is expected to fall across the country during the first week of September, 2014. "Scattered rain/thunderstorm is also expected in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, eastern parts of Balochistan and Kashmir during the coming week," it said.
The office said that around two to three fresh weather systems (low pressure area) have developed over north-west Bay of Bengal, which is likely to move westward in coming days. "Under the influence of this Weather System monsoon currents will start to penetrate in Pakistan from Sunday/Monday," it pointed out. The Met Office informed the weather systems are likely to develop in Bay of Bengal during the coming two weeks that may strengthen the monsoon in the region including Pakistan.
The office in its weekly monsoon outlook forecast rain-thundershowers at scattered places in lower Sindh Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad and Karachi divisions), Makran and Kalat divisions on Monday. It said rain-thundershowers at isolated places in Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, D.G Khan, Multan, Hazara, D.I Khan, Zhob divisions and Kashmir.
On Tuesday, it said widespread rain-thundershowers are expected in Sindh, Makran and Kalat divisions while at scattered places in Islamabad, Punjab, lower KP and Kashmir, and at isolated places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan. Isolated heavy falls are also expected in Sindh. On Wednesday, widespread rain-thundershowers are expected in Sindh, Makran and Kalat divisions, while at scattered places Islamabad, Punjab, lower KP and Kashmir, and at isolated places in upper KP and Gilgit-Baltistan. Isolated heavy falls are also expected in Sindh.
On Thursday, rain-thundershowers are expected at isolated places in Sindh, Punjab (Bahawalpur, Gujranwala, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Sahiwal divisions), Makran, Kalat, Hazara divisions and Kashmir, the office predicted. Isolated heavy falls are expected in Sindh during Tuesday and Wednesday. No Significant weather is expected during rest of the period, it alerted.
