LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) leader Chaudhry Pervez Elahi has alleged that police used chemical weapons in Islamabad incident wherein police assaulted the protesters on Saturday night. He was talking to media after visiting the persons injured in Islamabad tragedy in PIMS Hospital on Sunday.
He said "we strongly condemn this incident, there was no difference between Model Town tragedy and Islamabad tragedy, and this was the replay of Model Town tragedy. Rulers would be held accountable for their offensive against the peaceful protesters in Islamabad.
He further alleged that the chemical weapons were brought on special directives of the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif".
Instead of tear gas specially imported chemical weapons were used and rifle bullets and 12 bore cartridges were also used along with rubber bullets.
Number of injured and martyred persons was much more, real facts were not being told, he added. He asked whether this was called democracy.
He said that Chaudhry Nisar did in Islamabad what CM Shahbaz Sharif had done in Model Town rather he excelled CM. Blood of the martyred would not go waste, and those coming into power through rigging would have to pay for this.
Chaudhry Parvez Elahi further said that Dr Tahirul Qadri and Imran Khan had clearly announced that the sit-ins were being shifted in front of the Prime Minister's House, no worker should enter the building, therefore, use of tear gas, baton charge and chemical weapons on workers who had remained peaceful for 17 days was open terrorism of the govt. PML Q would lodge FIR of this incident after consulting the allies parties.
He said that even the injured persons who had come to the hospitals for treatment had been arrested by police and shifted to unknown places.
He regretted that PIMS Vice-Chancellor Dr Javed Akram should not have been involved in this game.
He said even minor children were not being provided milk and water.
During the visit to the injured ones in PIMS Hospital, Chaudhry Parvez Elahi was accompanied by Senator Kamil Ali Agha, Chaudhry Zaheeruddin Khan and Ahmad Yar Heraj.
