Syed Ibne Abbas, High Commissioner-designate to the United Kingdom and Muhammad Aslam Khan, Ambassador-designate to Kuwait, called on President Mamnoon Hussain at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Friday and discussed matters pertaining to their new diplomatic assignments.
Congratulating the envoys, the President urged them to focus on further strengthening Pakistan's close and friendly ties with the United Kingdom and Kuwait with particular focus on enhancing trade and economic ties. The President said Pakistan highly values its relations with UK and Kuwait and advised the envoys designate to concentrate on exploring new vistas and avenues for expanding the scope of present trade ties between the two countries.
Speaking to Syed Ibne Abbas, Pakistan's High Commissioner-designate to the United Kingdom, the President expressed satisfaction on revised Pak-UK roadmap for co-operation in the field of culture, education, trade, investment, and security. He urged the High Commissioner-designate to work towards achieving the bilateral trade target of three billion dollars by 2015 between the two countries.
The President urged the newly appointed ambassador to Kuwait Muhammad Aslam Khan for making concerted efforts to encourage entrepreneurs and investors of Kuwait to invest in Pakistan and avail the investment and business friendly initiatives and packages of the government.
The President emphasised for persuading the Kuwait Fund to continue its assistance in development projects. Noting the presence of Pakistani community in UK and Kuwait, the President said it served as a human bridge and advised the envoys designate to look after their interests positively and to ensure that positive contributions of Pakistanis continue to foster Pakistan's relations with UK and Kuwait.
The envoys-designate thanked the President for reposing confidence in them and assured that they would work with full dedication and commitment to further augment Pakistan's relations with the United Kingdom and Kuwait with focus on enhancing and diversifying trade, commercial and investment ties.
