The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) has evacuated over 33,000 flood-affected persons from vulnerable inundated districts of Punjab; whereas, the Rescue 1122's Water Rescue Teams are conducting continuous search, rescue and evacuation operations in flood-hit districts of the province during night timings since the start of the recent flash floods.
The major rescue operations were conducted in Jhang on Wednesday where 96 Rescue Boats are participating in rescue operation and 7,754 flood-affected ones have been evacuated so far. Likewise, major rescue operations are being conducted in Hafizabad; Chiniot, Jhang, Multan and Muzaffargarh Districts. On the direction of Chief Minister of Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, DG Rescue Punjab Dr Rizwan Naseer reached Jhang in the wee hours of Wednesday and started monitoring rescue operations.
Head of Disaster Response Force Dr Farhan Khalid said Dr Rizwan Naseer personally participated in several rescue operations besides monitoring overall evacuation situation and evacuated the flood victims. He said DG Rescue Punjab once again stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the flood-affected ones during this flood and also encouraged rescuers participating in search and rescue operations in Jhang and other adjoining vulnerable districts of Punjab.
Furthermore, as part of flood preparedness the vulnerable districts of north, middle and southern Punjab are identified by special rescue teams and as part of flood contingency plans, Rescue 1122 extra staff has been deployed in most sensitive districts of Punjab to manage any kind of untoward incident.
