Transport Action Committee president Mohammad Ashraf Banglori has expressed his concern over traffic jams in the city of Karachi and demanded of the DIG Traffic, Sindh, to end traffic problems faced by the people. "The vehicle get stuck on roads due to traffic jams, causing sufferings to patients and other citizens," he said, adding that encroachments, illegal parking lots and bike rickshaws had been permitted by traffic police officials, increasing miseries of traffic jams. He said instead of performing their duties, traffic police officials were involved in taking bribes from citizens. He called for action against traffic police officials found negligent. Banglori said traffic jams were witnessed in Banaras of Orangi Town, Liaquatabad, Ayesha Manzil, Tariq Road, Lee Market, Sharae Faisal, Rashid Minhas Road, Saddar, M A Jinnah Road, Numaish Chowrangi, Quaidabad to Drigh Road of Sharae Faisal and other parts of the city.- "Traffic police officials are asking for more induction of manpower into the force but if they performed their duties honestly the current strength of traffic police is enough to control traffic in Karachi and the traffic issues could be resolved easily," he argued.
