Senior member Board of Revenue/ Relief Commissioner Sindh Malik Israr Hussain Sunday visited different dykes in Sukkur and reviewed steps taken in advance to handle the expected flood situation there, on the directives of Sindh Chief Minister.
He reviewed P. Point of Ali Wahan dyke near Rohri and got a briefing regarding relief goods required during the expected situation including machinery, relief camps, life saving boats and others. He also reviewed the steps taken by the district administration, district health department, livestock and irrigation departments.
Malik Israr Hussain said taking effective steps and saving people from being affected by the flood, is a top priority of the government. He said the purpose of his visit here is to provide the government a detailed report about all the arrangements made so far to meet the flood situation, so that in the light of that report, the Federal as well as Provincial governments may become well aware of the ground situation and chart a proper protection or relief strategy.
He further said, it is also our purpose to generate valuable suggestions from the residents of these areas about how to handle the expected flood situation.
On the occasion, Commissioner Sukkur Division Muhammad Abbas Baloch apprised the Senior Member Board of Revenue/ Relief Commissioner Sindh that due to expected flood effective steps have been taken to shift residents of kachha areas to safer places. The health, relief and rescue teams remain present in all areas likely to be affected by the flood to face any emergency situation, he added.
The officers of the district administration and other concerned departments were also present.
