Joint sitting of Parliament: Khattak criticised for indifference toward lawlessness in KP

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Wednesday lashed out at Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for his 'indifferent attitude' towards the affairs of the province and promised to present a report on the bad governance and lawlessness of the PTI-led government in the joint sitting of the Parliament in next few days.
While responding a point of order by Awami National Party (ANP) Senator Zahid Khan, the Interior Minister criticised Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak for taking part in the on-going sit-in protest outside Parliament's house and also came up with a suggestion to publish an advertisement regarding "Search for the missing Chief Minister."
He said that law and order, and security situation was precarious in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa but the issue was not getting the required attention as the chief minister of the province was busy in bringing revolution in Islamabad.
Nisar regretted that people of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa were becoming the worst victim of lawlessness, while the entire provincial cabinet including its chief minister was staging protest demonstration against the federal government. He maintained that there was no governance in the province with the major issue of IDPs; hence the chief minister should have been in his province to address people's problems.
Earlier, Senator Zahid Khan pointed out that the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and his cabinet members were staging protest demonstration in Islamabad while leaving the people of the province at the mercy of terrorists. He said that law and order situation in the province was deteriorating day by day. He pointed out that three members of peace committee were recently gunned down by the terrorists in Swat. He further said that terrorists had also killed an SHO in D. I. Khan at his residence and there was also attack on a police station in Hangu.
"The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police is completely demoralised, as PTI has given a go-ahead to the terrorists to target whoever they want and they have also stopped snap checking at the check posts," he maintained. Another ANP Senator Ilyas Bilour dared PTI chief Imran Khan for a live TV debate about corruption and lawlessness in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He rejected the claims of PTI leaders that corruption had been eliminated from the province.
He further said that the Prime Minister enjoyed confidence of the Parliament and how Imran Khan could demand his resignation from the office just to fulfill his own desire to become the Prime Minister. He regretted that Imran Khan was using derogatory and indecent language against institutions and leaders, besides levelling baseless allegations.
Taking part in the debate, Senator Naseema Ehsan of BNP (Awami) said that the country was passing through critical moment, as people of Punjab and Kashmir were witnessing heavy floods and it is duty of every Pakistani to help provide relief to them. She announced to give her one month salary to the affected people.
Referring to the PTI and PAT protest demonstration, she said that democracy and constitution allow holding protest demonstrations, but subjecting the peaceful protestors to brutal victimisation was unconstitutional. She accused Chief Minister Balochistan Dr Abdul Malik Baloch of rigging in the last year general elections by defeating her husband Syed Ihsan Shah. However, the allegations were later rejected by the National Party leader Kamal Khan Bangalzai who while speaking on a point of explanation, stated that Ihasan Shah was disqualified by a court for submitting two different educational credentials in the general elections held in 2013 and 2008. PPP's Senator Saeed Ghani, while taking part in the debate on the political situation, doubted the role of military in the on-going political crisis saying though the DG ISPR has clarified the position of Pakistan army, but it still needs to come up with a clear stance to remove apprehensions of the political forces. In his point of order, Mahmood Khan Achakzai demanded of the House to pass a resolution in support of private media group, which is not being shown by cable operators.
