The Punjab Food Minister Bilal Yaseen said over charging and hoardings will not be tolerated at any cost in the province and daily use commodities will only be sold at the government specified rates. Bilal was chairing a meeting of the price control committee at civil secretariat here on Monday. Secretaries of the departments concerned attended the meeting and a detailed briefing on post-flood daily use commodities and their prices was given to the minister.
The Minister directed the departments concerned to stabilise the prices of the daily use commodities while quality items on reasonable rates should be provided to the masses through sahulat bazaars. He said over charging and hoardings will not be tolerated and items will be sold only on government specified rates. Bilal Yaseen made it clear that keeping daily use items in the access of the masses is the top most priority of the Punjab government.
Later Bilal Yaseen along with DCO Lahore Captain, (r) Muhammad Usman visited Gulshan-e-Ravi, Shadman and Gulberg market and reviewed progress on implementation on steps taken by the provincial government for providing quality items on affordable rates. He directed the city administration to take special steps for providing fruits and vegetables to citizen on cheaper rates. He said rate lists should be displayed at prominent places in the shops. He said over chargers and hoarders should be sent to jail so as to ensure stability in the prices of daily use items.
