WHO Country Head in Pakistan Dr Michel Jean Jules has offered to hold training workshops immediately in Lahore, Rawalpindi and Multan for doctors of Punjab health department about Congo fever and Ebola virus. Dr Michel Jean Jules along with four member delegation met Advisor on Health Kh. Salman Rafique here on Tuesday.
The delegation included Dr Ubaid-ul-Salam (Team Leader Punjab), Dr Fawad Khan (Emergency Co-ordinator), Dr Jamshaid Ahmed (Operation Officer) and Dr Muhammad Ali Raja (Malaria Control Officer). Secretary Health Jawad Rafique Malik and Director General Health Punjab Dr Zahid Pervez were also present on the occasion.
Secretary Health expressed his desire to hold training courses with the co-operation of WHO for capacity-building of officers of Health Department upon which Country Head of WHO showed willingness over training programmes. Polio situation in Pakistan particularly in Punjab and the causes of environmental samples of being positive in Lahore were discussed in detail during the meeting. Kh. Salman Rafique discussed with the WHO delegation about the co-operation in eradication of malaria fever in flood-hit areas.
