The Chief Justice of Pakistan Nasirul Mulk on Wednesday sought comments of the federal law secretary on the appointment of Dr Faaiz Ali Syed as Chairman Drug Court Islamabad. The sources told Business Recorder that the Chief Justice took notice of the media reports over the appointment of an alleged 'impersonator' Dr Faaiz Ali Syed as Chairman Drug Court Islamabad through Ministry of Law, Justice and Human Rights Islamabad.
The Chief Justice of Pakistan was apprised that Dr Faaiz Ali Syed has been allegedly involved in various impersonation cases pertaining to superior judiciary by allegedly posing himself as Justice Nasirul Mulk, a Judge of Supreme Court of Pakistan and in another case the Registrar, Supreme Court of Pakistan.
The matter was referred to Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Inspector General Police Lahore where a case was registered against Dr Faaiz Ali Syed on July 06, 2011. It is pertinent to mention that the federal government appointed Dr Faaiz Ali Syed on August 19, 2014 as Chairman, Drug Court, Islamabad BPS 21 on a contract basis on standard terms and conditions for a period of two years or until further orders. However, his contract appointment was terminated on August 29, 2014 with immediate effect with the approval of Prime Minister of Pakistan.
After going through the details of the matter Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk has directed the Secretary Ministry of Law, Justice and Human Rights to submit his comments on the criteria adopted in the appointment of Dr Faaiz Ali Syed as well as the circumstances which led to the withdrawal of a notification of his appointment.
