Apropos 'Roots of agitation' carried by Business Recorder in its BR Research section on September 16, the authors have argued that "lawyers' movement wanting top judiciary's restoration; doctors and mid- to low-level government servants on strike for pay raise; and civil society protesting against general socio-economic injustice. There is no debate on the point that the brains behind recent protests in the heart of Islamabad wanted to give vent to the public's pent-up agitation concerning deep injustices."
Their approach appears to be too simplistic and mechanistic for a country that is facing one of the most profound political crises since its birth almost 68 years ago. Everyone, it seems, is trying to do politicking instead of uniting the nation. It is true that sympathy for 'greater' cause is a good advocate, but savvy politicking could get this reversed. The two sit-ins in Islamabad's Red Zone are nothing but an activity directed towards acquiring power.
