Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan exposed bad governance and mismanagement of the PML-N government and vowed to put the country on path to honesty, merit and fair play for rapid socio-economic development, if voted to power. Addressing his workers at Azadi Square on 45th day of sit-in in front of the Parliament House, he said that the government keeps on escalating cost of uplift projects on one pretext or the other just to grab the hard earned public money.
"The cost of Islamabad airport has jacked up from Rs 35 billion to Rs 65 billion but work on the airport is yet to be completed," he said. Khan said that the government is planning to raise cost of the metro bus project by six billion rupees and it is unfortunate. "Our movement has not hampered work on the project, then why the cost is being raised," he said, adding that it is right of every Pakistani to ask questions from their rulers.
He urged the participants of the sit-in to expose the corrupt politicians. "Sharif family pays more than two billion rupees in taxes in London and only a few hundred thousands in Pakistan," he said. Taking a jibe on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's visit to the United States, he said the prime minister spent Rs 80million from national exchequer to visit the US, but in return achieved nothing. "Around 110 million Pakistanis are living below the poverty line in Pakistan ... Mian Saheb should work hard to take these millions out of the poverty, instead of squandering money on foreign incursions," he said.
The PTI chief said that Indian prime minister has been meeting with the US president and some top businessmen in the United States, while Sharif kept hiding from Pakistani community in US. "The departments of education, health and police are in tatters ... Mr prime minister! You should spend all your energies to make these departments an example," he said.
Talking about rigging in 2013 elections, he said that former Chairman Nadra Tariq Malik has exposed true face of the rulers in a television interview. "He and his family were harassed by the government ... Tariq Malik was forced to leave Pakistan; so that Sharifs could hide facts about rigging in the elections," he said. Khan also questioned the Election Commission of Pakistan as to why it has not uploaded the Form-14 on its website. "The day the election commission published Form-14 on its website, the election fraud will be exposed," he said.
He said that he was happy to share with the nation that Supreme Court was going to hear the PTI petition about the prime minister on Monday. "We have succeeded to bring the `liar' prime minister to the court," he said, adding that he won't spare those who fired on peaceful protestors of the PTI on August 31. A local court has ordered registration of a murder case against the prime minister and 10 others on the request of PTI. A murder case has already been registered against the prime minister, chief minister Punjab and some other federal ministers on the petition of Pakistan Awami Tehrik.
"I won't spare them who have tortured our workers in Adiala jail," he said. Khan said that in a true democracy, people ask their leaders about their assets and source of income, but unfortunately in Pakistan, people don't do so. "It is right of people to ask their leaders about their assets and source of income," he said, adding that Pakistan cannot make progress until people wake up for their rights.
The PTI chief also promised the participants to introduce a separate manifesto for the children. "We will teach our children about creation of Pakistan and its purpose," he said Khan also promised to introduce a uniform education system for all and sundry if the PTI is voted to power. "Today, our education system is divided into three, four different types and it is the biggest injustice with the nation," he said.
