KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has asked the elected representatives of southern districts to focus their attention on welfare of the IDPs of North Waziristan Agency camped in various areas besides keeping effective contacts with their electorates.
He expressed the confidence that the Assembly members would visit IDPs in their camps during forthcoming Eid-ul-Azha and would not only try to cater their needs but would also contact him (CM) if needed for gaping up any deficiency on the spot in this regard. He was talking to PTI MPA elect from D.I.Khan, Ehtesham Javed Akbar and other Assembly members of southern districts who called on him at his office CM Secretariat Peshawar.
Pervez Khattak said that Peace has been restored to great extent in NWA and soon repatriation of the IDPs would start to their homes and areas. However he said that it was pre-requisite to give IDPs a full sense of affection from our people during their stay in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while this task could only be better perform by our elected representatives.
He said that it was high time that all Assembly members irrespective of their party and area affiliation participate in gatherings of IDPs and ensure their welfare. Chief Minister said that besides the assistance from federal government and international agencies, the provincial government was endeavouring to provide succour to operation affectees of NWA and besides providing them municipal services including sanitation and drinking water Rs 8 thousand monthly cash assistance was being given to each family under Esaar Pakhtunkhwa Program.
He said Rs 40 million have been distributed among 49000 families by them while the Chief Secretary has also been properly instructed in this regard who kept close liaison with him for the purpose. Similarly Commissioner Bannu has been given the task of taking care of the medical, water supply and municipal services for IDPs of NWA besides ensuring law and order in the surroundings. However he said that the basic need was not to give them aid but to share our love, joys and spirit of brotherhood with them.
He said that though resources of the province were meager and our people were also faced with the problems of poverty and unemployment but they were filled with the religious and national spirit of unity, brotherhood and hospitality that the nation needed today. He expressed the hope that our elected representative would inculcate and revive such a spirit among the people in nook and corner of the province and would also give the IDPs a real sense of brotherhood and integrity with the locals.
