Senior politician Javed Hashmi on Wednesday announced his resignation from the party's presidency and its basic membership. Hashmi announced his decision during a news conference held at his Multan residence. Hashmi said he had resigned due to PTI Chairman Imran Khan's undemocratic behaviour. The senior politician added that he had sent his resignation letter to Imran Khan.
Hashmi said that he could no longer continue with a party 'conspiring' to dismantle democracy in Pakistan. "There are a few hypocrites with Imran," Hashmi said, adding, "I have told him the bad times have begun for his party." It is to be mentioned here that PTI had suspended Hashmi as President and his basic membership following his criticism of party leadership and had summoned him to the party secretariat to explain his case on September 29.
Hashmi said that he wanted to respond to the show-cause notice during the PTI Multan rally but Imran Khan announced yesterday that he (Hashmi) would not be invited. "Imran wants to bury the PTI and if Shah Mehmood Qureshi has the courage he should resign and contest the election," he added. The PML-N local chapter has announced its support for Hashmi in the NA-149 by-election. To a question regarding Nawaz Sharif's intention of coming to visit him, he said let Nawaz Sharif come first.
