'Paratha with Halwa, chicken, qurma and chicken palau' will be served to over 48,000 jail inmates in breakfast, lunch and dinner in all 32 jails on the occasion of Eidul Azha across the province. Inspector General of Prisons Punjab Mian Farooq Nazeer told APP here on Sunday that the diet would contain at least 2800 to 3000 calories daily.
About the quality of food, he claimed that the best hygienic food was being served to the prisoners with better quality of bread. He said now healthy cows and chickens were slaughtered within central jails premises having more than 1000 population under the supervision of jail doctor and assistant superintendent jail.
Farooq Nazeer said: "Whosoever wants to visit the site of prisons slaughter house, jail kitchen and store, they are always welcome". He said that Punjab was the first province where food with full calories was being served.
