The Supreme Court on Thursday adjourned the proceedings of a petition filed by MNA Maulvi Agha Muhammad, who was disqualified by Election Tribunal Balochistan on the basis of a fake degree. A two-member bench headed by Chief Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk resumed the hearing of the petition through which Maulvi Agha Muhammad challenged his disqualification.
During the course of proceedings, the petitioner's counsel submitted an application to the court, seeking the adjournment of the matter; upon which the bench adjourned the case for an indefinite period. It is pertinent to mention that Maulvi Agha Muhammad was elected as MNA from NA-261 Pishin-Ziarat on the ticket of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) during general elections 2013; however, runner-up candidate Muhammad Essa Roshan of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP) challenged Agha Muhammad's degree in the Election Tribunal Balochistan. The Election Tribunal disqualified Maulvi Agha Muhammad for possessing a fake degree and ordered re-election in NA-261, Pishin-Ziarat.
