Professor Dr Agnieszka Kuszewska and Professor Dr Pitor Balcerowicz from University of Warsaw, Poland delivered lectures at Pakistan Study Centre on "EU, India and China - Three Regional Powers in International Resolutions" and "Afghanistan: Present Situation and Future Challenges."
On this occasion Dean Faculty of Arts and Humanities and Director PSC, Dr Mussarrat Abid welcomed and introduced the speakers to the audience. She briefly highlighted the importance of issues being discussed by focusing on the role to be played by regional powers such as India, China and European Union in the emerging globalizing world along with new challenges which are going to rise from the current political situation of Afghanistan.
A comprehensive analysis was presented by Professor Kuzweska regarding the complex social, economic and political characteristics of the EU, India and China - their basic differences, similarities and the common challenges faced by these powers. She was of the opinion that intense competition between the three powers could be a harbinger of conflict and risks while the triangular cooperation could ensure peace, security and prosperity for global fraternity.
Professor Pitor holistically examined the multifarious aspects of the current unfolding scenario of Afghanistan such as the recent elections there, innovating with the new office of the Prime Minister/Chief Executive to accommodate Abdullah Abdullah, crystallisation of ethnic groups, internal schisms of Afghan people, influence of Taliban and nature of American-Afghanistan agreement. In the question-answer session, he highlighted the phenomenon of India's claims as a new super power and the significance of normalisation of Indo-Pakistan relations.
