'PTI will provide social protection to minorities'

Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan Sunday vowed that the PTI would provide social protection to minorities after coming to power. Addressing his supporters at D-Chock in front of Parliament House, Khan said that his party would empower weak segments of the society particularly minorities and give them complete protection.
The PTI Sunday celebrated minorities' day with a pledge that it would give neglected segments of the society equal rights and protection.
"I feel sorry that we have failed to give protection to minorities which are only five percent of the total population. In Madina accord minorities were given protection and we being Muslim have to follow that example," Khan said.
Khan strongly condemned forced conversion of minorities to Islam, adding that he really feels ashamed that members of Hindu and Kailash communities were forced to embrace Islam, which was against the spirit and teachings of our religion.
He promised that the PTI would introduce justice system after coming to power where minorities' members would be treated as equal Pakistani.
He expressed hope that people from Hindu community, who fled Pakistan in the face of atrocities, would return when PTI assume power. Pakistan would become an exemplary state where state would stand for the rights of the minorities.
Highlighting PTI's policies, Khan said that the PTI has to end the style of politics in which politicians are exploiting the nation on the name of religion, sect and races only to bag votes. He added "We have to end that style of politics and to change the syllabus which creates hatred among religions and sects ".
He referred to the example of United Kingdom and other western countries where Muslims were marginalized and said that such steps prompt the marginalized communities towards radicalisation.
Mentioning the misuse of laws against minorities, Khan said "there are laws which are misused to persecute minorities and it is happening because there is no sentence on perjury."
Beside this, Khan also criticised transferring of power within Pakistan People's Party [PPP], saying that the there was no transparent mechanism of transfer of power in the PPP as transferring party to a husband and son [Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari] through a piece of paper was not democracy.
He acknowledged that Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was a genuine leader but unfortunately after him the PPP's leadership was not transferred on merit.
He termed the senior political parties as Family Limited Companies, saying that there are 400 families in the country which are handling the country's politics.
He said that democracy means rule of law and meritocracy but when a few families control the power there is no true spirit of democracy. He shared the findings of a study according to which family politics in Pakistan was 68 percent while it was 28 percent in India and 10 percent in United States.
