With a view to apprise the students about importance of filmmaking and cinema, a seminar on "New Trends in Film Production" was held at the Hameed Nizami Hall of the Punjab University (PU) Institute of Communication Studies. Actor, Producer and Director Salman Peerzada delivered a lecture on production techniques and filmmaking.
While addressing the participants, he said that films are the strongest medium of communication in this era. Tracing the history of filmmaking in the subcontinent, he said, Lahore had always been the hub of filmmaking. All movies were initially released in Lahore, he added. He said cinema's importance had increased manifolds and the size of a country doesn't matter when it comes to quality cinema.
On the occasion, Director Incharge of Institute of Communication Studies Dr Noshina Saleem appreciated the efforts of students for organising this event. Later, an interactive session was held and Salman Peerzada answered questions regarding filmmaking and acting. Assistant Professors Dr Waqar Malik, Afeera Hamid, Fahad Mehmood, Lecturer Shafia Bhatti, faculty members and a large number of students attended the event.
