Jamait Ulema-e-Islam (Fazl) Multan chapter held a protest here on Hazoori Bagh Road on Sunday against the killing of JUI-F Secretary General Dr Khalid Mehmood Soomro. More than 200 JUI-F workers and students of various religious seminaries participated in the protest and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits.
The protestors vehemently criticised the role of the government and law-enforcement agencies (LEAs), which had failed to protect and stop violent attacks on its leadership. Local office-bearers said that Dr Khalid who held an important position in the party was attacked many times in the past but the government failed to take security measures for his protection. They said that party workers' patience is running short because their leadership is under perpetual attacks by unknown terrorist groups. They demanded the protection of their leadership and justice for deceased Dr Soomro; otherwise they will block the whole country.
