The Hayatabad Residents Society (HRS) Peshawar, demanded dissolution of Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) for its poor performance and rampant corruption by its officials. While addressing a news conference on Tuesday here at Peshawar press club, Nazar Hussain, General Secretary HRS also demanded the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to replace PDA with Municipal Committee.
He said that the dwellers of so-called posh area were not being provided even basic facilities due to the incompetence of PDA administration. He also alleged that the white colours and honourable people were on the mercy of PDA corrupt officials, whom have turned them as renters, adding PDA has no law or principal to follow, rather following the law of influential. "PDA high-ups were enjoying their seats just to bestow their, nears and dears, influential and elite class, in violation to the law, Hussain alleged.
Flanked by other office bearers of the Society, Hussain alleged that for the last several years PDA was in the grip of over 80 percent corrupt officials, whom were brought in previous government regimes. Though, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf central Chairman Imran Khan did raised his voice against corruption in society, but it will be a challenging task for him to face the influential corrupt mafia, he added.
He also demanded of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister and Minister for Local Government and Rural Development to abolish the "white elephant" in shape of PDA and establish a new department of Municipal Corporation by inducting competent and honest persons to ultimately stop corruption.
