The 6th Round of India-Pakistan Parliamentary Dialogue has begun in New Delhi, which is attended by 12 Pakistani parliamentarians led by Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari, MNA and Chairman Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs.
According to a press release issued by PILDAT here on Thursday Mani Shankar Aiyar (INC), Member Rajya Sabha and Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari, MNA and Chairman Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs as well as Convenor of Pakistan-India Parliamentary Friendship Group in the National Assembly of Pakistan opened the two-day dialogue as Co-Chairs.
A 12-member delegation of Pakistan MPs join their Indian counterparts under the leadership of Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari, including Senator Hasil Khan Bizenjo, Senator Dr Muhammad Jehangir Bader, Senator Mushahid Ullah Khan, Senator Nawabzada Saifullah Magsi, Abdul Rashid Godail, MNA, Maiza Hameed, MNA, Muhammad Afzal Khan, MNA, Muhammad Ayaz Soomro, MNA, Muhammad Tallal Badar, MNA, Ramesh Lal, MNA, Syed Muhammad Ashiq Hussain Shah, MNA, Javed Jabbar joined the dialogue as an expert in his capacity as a veteran MP, while the PILDAT team, headed by Ahmed Bilal Mehboob, President PILDAT, includes Aasiya Riaz, Joint Director, Faheem Ahmed Khan, Projects Manager and Muhammad Saad, Assistant Projects Officer.
The Indian MPs joining the dialogue include Mani Shankar Aiyar (INC, Tamil Nadu), Malikaarjun Kharge, Dr Shashi Tharoor, (INC, Kerala) Chairperson Standing Committee on External Affairs, Baijayant Jay Panda(BJD, Odisha), Feroze Varun Gandhi (BJP, Uttar Pradesh), Digvijaya Singh(INC, Madhya Pradesh), Professor Saugata Roy (AITC, West Bengal), Hussain Dalwai(INC, Maharashtra), Ashwani Kumar(INC, Punjab), Pavan Kumar Varma (JDU, Bihar), MajeedMemon (NCP Maharashtra), K. T. S. Tulsi (Independent, Punjab), Rajeev Shukla (INC, Maharashtra), Satyavrat Chaturvedi, (INC, Madhya Pradesh), Muhammad Salim, (CPI, West Bengal), Professor M. V. Rajeev Gowda(INC, Karnatak), Naresh Gujral(SAD, Punjab), Rajeev Chandasekar(Independent, Karnatak) and Shatrughan Prasad Sinha(BJP, Bihar).
Dialogue series among Parliamentarians of Pakistan and India is aimed at facilitating a structured discussion among MPs from the two countries on issues of mutual interest and concern that impact the relationship between the two countries. As an independent Pakistani think tank, PILDAT has been facilitating dialogues between Parliamentarians to enhance the role of Parliamentary Diplomacy in Pakistan's relations in the region and around the World.
