Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Thursday said that PTI would lockdown Karachi as it has street power, adding the protest will be peaceful if the provincial government did try to create any hindrance to sabotage it. Speaking to the participants of his sit-in protesters at D-Chowk, Imran said: "Oh Karachiites get ready, I'm coming...we're not asking anybody to shut their shops if they're happy with incumbent government. And if you're not, you must come out and we'll close all the roads.
The PTI is scheduled to execute the lockdown of Karachi - the second city after Faisalabad - under its Plan-C which it announced on November 30 after government made no serious effort to resume stalled talks. Making a commitment to remain peaceful, Imran said: "I am sorry, we did not want to create problems for the people of Karachi but we've no other option except going to the people as they're the best judge. Our sole purpose is to ensure punishment to people involved in rigging."
He said that freedom from cruel rulers need sacrifices and it was the people only who can make them accountable. He continued that the protests will be peaceful and any attempt to sabotage it would backfire like it happened in Faisalabad. He declared that through his ongoing anti-government movement he is imparting training to the youth, who are looking forward to change and a new Pakistan. The enthusiasm and role played by youth and women during the last four months in his fight against a corrupt system, he added, will go a long way in preparing the young generation to challenge the status quo.
Imran ridiculed his political rivals for terming his supporters as 'burger and mummy-daddy class', adding when they stood like a rock despite all odds, tear gas shelling, baton charge, etc. it became clear to government that 'we're not going to accept the defeat'.
A senior PTI official said that the PTI workers will lockdown all the roads of the city. The PTI has identified 27 locations for Friday's Karachi lockdown, where the party workers will ensure their presence by 6am in the morning. The places include: (1) Native Jetty Bridge (2) Shershah Chowk (3) Hub River Road (4) Rasheedabad Site Town (5) Sultanabad (6) MPR Colony, Orangi (7) Habib Bank Chowrangi (8) Abdullah College (9) Five-Star Chowrangi (10) Power House (11) Hassan Square (12) Nursery Shahrah-e-Faisal (13) Kalapul (14) Star Gate (15) Daud Chowrangi (16) National Highway (17) Steel Mill Chowk (18) Bilal Chowrangi Korangi (19) Chamra Chowrangi (20) Singer Chowrangi (21) Numaish Chowrangi (22) Super Highway (23) NED Gate University Road (24) Qayyumabad Chowrangi (25)Teen Talwar (26) Millennium Mall (27) Baloch Colony Bridge.
